Where a mariachi fits in your wedding timeline

A mariachi can play three parts of a wedding day. Most couples pick one or two.

The ceremony

The mariachi plays the processional, a piece during the ceremony such as "Ave María," and the recessional as you walk out. Plan for about 30 to 45 minutes on site.

Cocktail hour

While guests move to the reception, the mariachi plays a standing set — sones, boleros, and a few rancheras. This is the most popular single choice.

The reception entrance

The mariachi announces the couple with a strong number like "El Son de la Negra" or "La Negra," then plays through the first toast.

Putting it together
